Peekator Data Privacy
Last updated: 01-04-2026
Peekator Ltd (“Peekator”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard personal data when individuals (“respondents”, “you”) participate in surveys or research activities conducted via our platform.
This policy is designed to comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
Peekator Ltd is a market research and insights company based in the United Kingdom.
For the purposes of data protection law, Peekator may act as either a data controller or a data processor, depending on the nature of the research project. Where we conduct research on behalf of a client, that client will typically act as the data controller and Peekator will process personal data on their behalf. In other cases, Peekator may act as the data controller where we determine the purposes and means of processing.
We are committed to handling personal data in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Scope of this policy
This Privacy Policy applies to personal data collected through surveys and research activities conducted via the Peekator platform, including web-based and mobile surveys, as well as any related communications with respondents.
It covers data collected directly from individuals participating in research, as well as limited technical data collected automatically through the use of the platform.
This policy does not apply to third-party websites, services, or platforms that may be linked within surveys or used by clients outside of the Peekator platform. Where such third parties are involved, their own privacy policies may apply.
Where Peekator acts as a data processor on behalf of a client, the client’s privacy policy may also apply to the processing of your personal data.
Categories of personal data
We apply the principle of data minimisation and only collect data necessary for defined research purposes. Depending on the study, we may collect:
a) Survey data: Responses to survey questions, including opinions, attitudes, and behaviours
b) Demographic data: Age, gender, location, education, employment status, income band, or similar attributes
c) Contact data: Name, email address, or phone number (only where necessary, e.g. for incentive delivery or follow-up research)
d) Technical and usage data: IP address, device type, operating system, browser type, timestamps, session data, and interaction patterns
e) Special category data: We do not intentionally collect special category data (e.g. health, ethnicity, political opinions) unless it is strictly required for a specific research project, and you are clearly informed and provide explicit consent
Purpose of processing
Peekator processes personal data solely for legitimate research and operational purposes. This includes conducting market research, generating insights, and analysing trends, behaviours, and preferences to support clients in improving their products, services, and customer experience.
Personal data may also be used to manage and administer surveys, including survey logic and respondent experience, to deliver incentives where applicable, and to maintain the quality and integrity of research by detecting and preventing fraudulent or duplicate responses.
In addition, data may be processed to support the security, performance, and ongoing improvement of our platform.
Peekator does not use personal data for direct marketing or sales purposes unless you have explicitly provided consent.
Data sharing and recipients
Peekator may share personal data with third parties only where necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy and in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
This includes sharing data with clients who commission the research, typically in aggregated, anonymised, or pseudonymised form. Identifiable personal data is only shared where it is necessary for the specific research project and where appropriate safeguards and contractual agreements are in place.
We may also share data with trusted third-party service providers who support the delivery of our services, such as hosting, analytics, and incentive fulfilment providers. These providers act under our instructions and are subject to contractual obligations to ensure the confidentiality and security of personal data.
In certain circumstances, we may disclose personal data where required to do so by law, regulation, or legal process.
Peekator does not sell personal data to third parties.
Data retention
Peekator retains personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, in line with UK GDPR principles of data minimisation and storage limitation. Retention periods depend on the nature of the research, client requirements, and any applicable legal or regulatory obligations.
Survey response data may be retained for analysis and reporting and, where possible, is aggregated, anonymised, or pseudonymised. Personal identifiers, such as contact details, are retained only as long as needed for operational purposes, such as incentive fulfilment or agreed follow up research, and are removed or separated from responses as soon as reasonably practicable.
Technical data, including IP addresses and device information, is retained for a limited period to support security and data quality, after which it is deleted or anonymised.
Where Peekator acts as a data processor, retention is governed by client agreements. At the end of a project, data is securely deleted, returned, or retained in anonymised form where appropriate. Data may be retained longer where required by law.
Data security
Peekator implements appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, or disclosure, in accordance with UK GDPR requirements.
These measures include secure infrastructure and hosting environments, encryption of data in transit and, where appropriate, at rest, access controls based on roles and responsibilities, and ongoing monitoring of systems to detect and respond to potential security risks. We also apply data minimisation and, where possible, pseudonymisation to reduce the exposure of identifiable data.
Access to personal data is limited to authorised personnel and trusted service providers who are subject to confidentiality obligations and contractual safeguards.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have certain rights in relation to your personal data. These include the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, to request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data, and to request deletion of your data where applicable.
You also have the right to restrict or object to certain types of processing, and to withdraw your consent at any time where processing is based on consent. In some circumstances, you may also have the right to request the transfer of your data to another party.
If you wish to exercise any of these rights, you can contact us at info@peekator.com. We may need to verify your identity before processing your request.
Cookies and tracking
Peekator may use cookies and similar technologies to ensure the proper functioning of its survey platform, maintain security, and improve the overall respondent experience.
These technologies may be used to enable essential survey functionality, prevent duplicate or fraudulent responses, and collect limited technical information about how users interact with surveys. This helps us ensure data quality and optimise platform performance.
We do not use cookies for advertising purposes or to track users across unrelated websites.
Where required, cookies are used in accordance with applicable laws, and you may control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Please note that disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of surveys.
